Laela Yeteive Johnson

Laela Yeteive Johnson was born on January 8, 2010 at 3:13 am. She weighed 7lbs, 14 oz and is 21 inches long. An explanation of her name since everyone is asking. My great grandmother's name was Lael, and that is my middle name. So we just put an "a" at the end of it. My grandmother's (my kindred spirit) name was Yeteive and that is also my mom's middle name. and now it is Laela's as well. While labor was long and crazy, the actual delivery was a breeze, and I'm SO GRATEFUL to have been blessed to have a successful VBAC after 2 c sections! My midwife was incredible as was my doula. Doulas are the best! Phoenix Baptist is a great hospital, we were treated so good there.

The recovery has been so much easier too! I am very proud of myself, even if the entire birth plan went out the window!! she was out in 3 pushes. The downside is she had a dangerous blood infection, and had also inhaled a bunch of meconium (she pooped in utero) and I had hardly any amniotic fluid. So she was one sick little baby. She didn't cry for the first time for about 3 days. She had to stay in the hospital for 10 days to receive intensive antibiotic treatment. That was difficult, to go home without her. Luckily though we have a very supportive family and they helped us out so much by taking care of and entertaining the boys while Jeff and I went back and forth to the hospital for feedings. The nurses at Phoenix Baptist took such good care of her! They were the absolute BEST.
She finally got to come home yesterday, hurray! She is such a good baby! We love her so much! She only cries when she is hungry. She now weighs 8 lbs, 7 oz! Crazy! Last night some of our Johnson relatives stopped by. It was so nice to visit and see someone else besides just us and nurses! tonight my mom and Kelli come by. It's good to have company!
Her brothers love her, especially James. Enjoy the pictures!
